TBR Pile: January 2017

TBR Pile: January 2017

I did a decent job last month of catching up on my TBR list. This month I am planning only a handful of books, so I can attempt to read some of the books from my shelves. You know I don’t like to hold on to physical books, so I’m hoping to do some cleaning and then do another Little Free Library marketing run at the end of the month.

Here are 5 books I’m planning to read this month.

The Year We Turned Forty by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke

The Year We Turned Forty by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke

How I got it: I borrowed it from the library.

Why I got it: It’s my Moms Book Club pick for January. I suggested it because I’ve heard good things about it.

Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud MontgomeryAnne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery (read by Rachel McAdams)

How I got it: I signed up for an Audible free trial, so I could listen to this new audio edition.

Why I got it: It’s my YA Book Club selection for January. I picked it after Annie recommended we read it, since I can’t believe I’ve never read it.

Our Revolution by Bernie SandersOur Revolution by Bernie Sanders

How I got it: It was my second free book for my Audible trial (so Jim and I can both listen to it).

Why I got it: I love Bernie Sanders. I wanted him to be president, and despite Trump’s win, I am thankful for Bernie Sanders. I want to know what he has to say.

The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica MorganThe Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

How I got it: I will be borrowing the audiobook from Overdrive (hopefully).

Why I got it: I’ve heard good things about this book. I checked out the physical book from the library a couple of months ago, but I was intimidated by the length. I am I can get through it on audio.

A Portrait of Emily Price by Katherine ReayA Portrait of Emily Price by Katherine Reay

How I got it: I borrowed it from the library.

Why I got it: I really like Katherine Reay’s books, but I haven’t read this latest one yet.

    1. I enjoyed The Year We Turned Forty much more than their other book. We had a good book club discussion about it. I ended up returning The Royal We unlistened because it came in when I had 3 other audiobooks out. I need to put another request in to the library.

    1. I enjoyed Anne. Nothing new really since I’ve seen the mini-series a million times, but still a fun listen. I had to return The Royal We unlistened because it came in when I had a bunch of other audiobooks out. 🙁 I’ll get it again sometime.

  1. I just read Anne of Green Gables for the first time last fall and really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to hear what you think, too.

    1. I ended up enjoying The Year We Turned Forty. I need to write my review. The audio of Anne was really fun! I need to post about that too. Haha. I’m quite behind on my writing.
