TBR List: January 2018

TBR List January 2018

I’m back! Hopefully I’ll be able to keep up with blogging this month. I have some ideas on how to change things up, so I’m not so overwhelmed by the list of books I’ve completed but haven’t reviewed. Here are some of the books I’ve gotten recently that I hope to get to this month.

Books I’ll be reading in January 2018

La Belle Sauvage (The Book of Dust #1) by Philip PullmanLa Belle Sauvage (The Book of Dust #1) by Phillip Pullman

How I got it: I borrowed the CD audiobook from the library.

Why I got it: I love, love, love His Dark Materials, so of course I was beyond excited when I learned that Phillip Pullman was going to be writing more in that world. I can’t believe I didn’t get to this book sooner.

How I got it: I was sent an ARC by the publisher.

Why I got it: Let’s call this “why I’m reading it.” I am living stories with strong female characters right now, and this book fits the bill.

An Excess Male by Maggie Shen King

Why I got it: I heard the author speak about the book during an interview on the 88 Cups of Tea podcast, and I was so intrigued about this realistic sci-fi story.

How I got it: I borrowed it from the library.

Why I got it: It’s my YA Book Club pick for January – my selection. I’ve heard good things about it, and I am trying to read more diverse books.

Secondborn (Secondborn #1) by Amy A. Bartol

How I got it: I borrowed it from the library.

Why I got it: I had coffee/tea with a publicist from Amazon Publishing, and she told me about the series because a new book is coming out this year. I was intrigued, but of course I have to start the series at the beginning.

What will you be reading this month?
