TBR List: February 2017

TBR List: February 2017

I’ve been struggling with reading (and blogging) lately for two reasons: I’m newly obsessed with Downton Abbey. I’ve been re-watching all of the episodes and that’s sucking up my reading time. I’m having a hard time reading fiction right now. The political climate in the country right now is distracting me. I’m trying to resist where I can, and reading isn’t feeling like a good escape. It’s sometimes feeling like a wasted effort. Nevertheless, I do have a stack of books that I will be attempting to read (or just finish – because I have started some of these books already) this month. 10 books I plan to […]

TBR Pile: January 2017

TBR Pile: January 2017

I did a decent job last month of catching up on my TBR list. This month I am planning only a handful of books, so I can attempt to read some of the books from my shelves. You know I don’t like to hold on to physical books, so I’m hoping to do some cleaning and then do another Little Free Library marketing run at the end of the month. Here are 5 books I’m planning to read this month. The Year We Turned Forty by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke How I got it: I borrowed it from the library. Why I got it: It’s […]

TBR Pile: December 2016

Mug on Book with Blanket | Pexels

December is going to be a catch up month for me. I am only adding 2 new books to my TBR pile, and then my goal is to read only books from my back list. My nightstand looks like this: These are books I had planned to read in October or November, but I just ran out of time or other books got in the way. Then I don’t know what happened, but a few months ago I went crazy on NetGalley and requested a TON of books. I think it was around the time where I stopped getting denied for many books, so while […]

Recent Additions to my TBR List (Top Ten Tuesday #11)

Woman Reading Book | picjumbo

This week’s topic was easy. I add WAY too many books to my TBR list. The current count is 635 books. I consider my TBR shelf to be any book that’s part of my “to-read” shelf on Goodreads, which is all the books I want to read. Here are 10 of the most recent additions to my TBR list. Vingear Girl by Anne Tyler Added to my list after reading The Bookavid’s review. The Danish Way of Parenting by Jessica Joelle Alexander & Iben Sandhal Added to my list after reading this article in Mother Magazine. Shadow Divers by Robert Kurson Added to my list after […]

TBR Pile: November 2016

Eating fresh breakfast and reading book in morning

Because I spent the second half of October searching for books to recommend in Country Woman magazine, I got a little derailed in my scheduled reading. I debated whether to even publish a TBR pile for November. But I decided to go for it because I have a handful of books I know I *need* to read this month. I finished 14 books in October, including 3 re-listens and 1 novella. Only 3 were books I planned to read in October. I’ll get to some of the others soon I hope, and I DNFed The Mothers. My November TBR Pile Bad Blood (The Naturals #4) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes How […]

TBR Pile: October 2016

Shelf Full of Books | Kaboompics

I have a HUGE pile of ARCS, so this month’s list is quite heavy on new releases. It seems like every book I picked up at BEA releases in September or October, so I’m a bit behind. I finished 13 books in September. 5 were books I planned to read in September. I’m in the middle of Leave Me, and I DNFed Into White. Maybe I’ll return to it at some time, but it wasn’t working for me. I also re-listened to 3 books (Harry Potter #7, The Martian, and Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour). And then I read 5 unplanned books, 3 of which were middle grade books I […]

Books on my fall TBR list (Top Ten Tuesday #5)

To Do List Notebook

I am so excited about today’s topic. It’s easy for me to talk about the books I want to read because I am a planner. I love thinking about the books I’m going to read (or the posts I’m going to write). Sometimes I enjoy the planning more than the actually doing (or in this case reading).   10 Books on My Fall TBR List by Authors I Love   Leave Me by Gayle Forman (September 7, 2016) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling, illustrated by Jim Kay (October 4, 2016) Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven (October 4, 2016) Small […]

TBR Pile: September 2016

Stack of Vintage Books

Each month I’ll be sharing my TBR pile (“to be read”). I find it helpful to choose a list of books for each month. I know many people have criticized TBR lists saying that it doesn’t allow for mood reading, but I disagree. I always make sure to choose a variety of adult and young adult titles, so I can select my next read based on mood, but still feel some pressure to get a lot of reading done within the month. I also try to keep my TBR list smaller than my normal monthly reading volume, so I still have time for last minute additions. In September, […]
