Book of a Thousand Days is written as Dashti’s diary entries, which I enjoyed at first. But as the book went on I grew tired of the excessive description. Even though the book spanned many years, some entries were just too detailed. They were very diary like, so I applaud Hale for that, but about half way through the book I was just anxious for it to move forward faster. Dashti was an admirable character.
