Books Are Like Couple Friends
One of the hardest things about being married is finding couple friends. You each have to like both people, and they both have to like you both. We have a few couples that we love, but there are others where I love the wife, and Jim hates the wife, or vice versa. We’re constantly on the look out for new couple friends.
I think books are kind of the same way. I love to share books with my husband. It started with Harry Potter while we were dating, and though Jim doesn’t read much, I’m constantly on the look out for other books he’d enjoy. And sometimes after he’s gotten a recommendation from someone else, he’ll share a book with me. Some other books we’ve both enjoyed are…
The Martian by Andy Weir
Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
Armada by Ernest Cline
Book Recommendations For My Husband
Because I talk about books a lot, Jim’s not always ready and willing to take my recommendations. As you can see by the books above, he’s more of a sci-fi lover, so when I try to get him to read books from other genres, he can be a bit reluctant. Also, Jim only “reads” books on audio, so that can be a limiting factor as well. We have to be able to find the audiobook version. Regardless, there are some books I know he’d love just as much as I do, if I could just get him to read them.
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro (Review coming on Monday.)
Starflight by Melissa Landers
Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
Spontaneous by Aaron Starmer
