I love reading “issue” books, especially when they seem timely and important. Today I am sharing 5 of my favorite realistic fiction reads in the young adult genre. If you haven’t read these books, do so ASAP.
There is nothing better than a book to help you get inside someone else’s head and understand a situation from a different point of view. I learned a lot from these books, and I really wish I could make everyone read them. I think if we could understand others better, we wouldn’t see so much hatred in the world right now.
Dear Martin by Nic Stone (Police Shooting, #BlackLivesMatter)
The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson (Transgender)
Exit, Pursued by a Bear by E.K. Johnston (Rape, #MeToo)
The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon (Immigration, Deportation, #Dreamers)
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas (Police Shooting, #BlackLivesMatter)
